Transitions: South Africa

Transitions: Contemporary South African Works on Paper
January 9 through June 10, 2010 This exhibition presents 13 works by eight artists and will explore how works of art can act as visual narratives and testimonials. In particular, these works will focus on the remarkable changes in the political and social landscapes in South Africa from 1974 during the height of Apartheid to 2002, two years before a decade of democracy was widely celebrated.

European Design Since 1985: Shaping the New Century
June 5, 2010 through August 29, 2010 Hailed "a tour de force" by The Wall Street Journal, this exhibition redefines Modernism and Postmodernism, which have both not only shaped European design but have also had a profound impact worldwide. The exhibition includes furniture, glass, ceramics, metalwork and more, created by some of the most influential artists of our time.

Signs of Life: Photographs by Peter Sekaer
June 5, 2010 through January 11, 2011 Organized by the High, this is the first major exhibition dedicated to the work of the Danish-born American photographer Peter Sekaer. Consisting of approximately 75 vintage gelatin silver prints, several of which have never been on public view, the works in the exhibition span the years 1935 through 1945 and document the effects of the Great Depression in several American cities.

Dali: The Late Work

Dalí: The Late Work
August 7, 2010 through January 9, 2011 The High will be the sole venue for the first exhibition to focus on Dalí's art after 1940. The exhibition, featuring more than 40 paintings and a related group of drawings, prints and other Dalí ephemera, will explore the artist's enduring fascination with science, optical effects and illusionism, and his surprising connections to artists of the 1960s and 1970s such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Willem de Kooning.

Radcliffe Bailey: Art of an Ancient Soul
February 5, 2011 through May 8, 2011 Presenting works created since 1993, this exhibition will highlight the artist's ceaseless experimentation with diverse forms as it looks at the influence of African art on the creative production of this Atlanta-based artist. The exhibition will include many large-scale works with floor and wall sculptures, paintings, works-on-paper, and glass works by Radcliffe Bailey, supplemented by African sculptures.

Cartier-Bresson Retrospective

Henri Cartier-Bresson Retrospective
February 19 through May 15, 2011 This first full retrospective in the U.S. in 30 years will showcase Cartier-Bresson's inventive work of the early 1930s that helped define the creative potential of modern photography and his uncanny ability to capture life on the run. Following an exquisite presentation of the best of his early work, the exhibition will be organized into a series of distinct sections. The exhibition is organized by MoMA, where it will debut in Spring 2010.
