FREE Evening for Educators
Thursday, October 8, 2009
4 to 8 p.m.
Teachers, school administrators, and community educators are invited to view Leonardo da Vinci: Hand of the Genius for free! On this evening you can explore the Museum, plan tours for your students, learn about PLU opportunities, view a Genius at Work! theatrical performance, and network with colleagues. This event is free for educators with advance reservations.
Please bring your school I.D. or verification of educator status.
Tickets will not be mailed or e-mailed, they will be available at Will-Call the evening of the event.
You may arrive any time between 4:00 and 7:30 pm. Your reservation time determines when you may enter the Leonardo exhibition, but there will be many other things to see and do.
You do not need to purchase an audio-guide with your complimentary tickets; that cost is included.
Admission is free for educators and one guest; additional guests may purchase tickets either in advance or at the door. Tickets are half-price after 4:00 pm on Thursdays.
Educators will receive 20% discount in the Museum Shops.
Food and beverages will be available for purchase.
Plan ahead for Teacher Institutes.
Semi-annual Teacher Institutes prepare educators to visit the exhibition with their students during the following school year. A team of faculty that often includes visiting educators and scholars share innovative curriculum-based strategies for presenting art and culture in the classroom.
The High Museum of Art offers a wide range of resources to help you integrate art into your classroom or prepare students for a Museum visit. We offer interactive web-based activities, downloadable PDF files, and printed materials, classroom activities, discussion ideas, background information, images, and lists of references and resources.
Verrocchio's David Restored: Student Interactive Website
Before or after your visit to see Leonardo da Vinci: Hand of the Genius, learn more about Leonardo's teacher, Andrea del Verrocchio and the art and history of the Renaissance. Free teaching materials and classroom connections are available online.
