Event Description

Mark your calendar for live jazz at the High on the third Friday of every month, hosted by Jamal Ahmad from Jazz 91.9 WCLK, Atlanta’s jazz station! Music, drinks, art—no matter the month, every Friday Jazz offers a great lineup featuring different styles of jazz, from straight ahead to free jazz, bebop to swing, and more.

Seating for Friday Jazz is limited and opens at 6 p.m. There is no reserved seating. Standing room is plentiful. Friday Jazz is FREE with Museum admission and FREE for members.

Guitarist Trevor Wolford.January features guitarist/composer/producer Trevor Wolford. He began his musical career at age 6 playing in church and sitting in with jazz musicians in Atlanta. He went on to earn a degree in Classical Guitar at Brevard College where he was able to extend his musical knowledge under the wisdom of instructors including Lou Mowad and Stephen K. Wilson. The wide palette of colors found in many of Trevor’s compositions can be attributed to his studies of Classical, Jazz, West African, and South American music.

When he is not playing with his group Kissing Electric, you can find him on stage backing up artists including Pip the Pansy, Chantae Cann, Carmen Rodgers, and Mathai (from NBC’s the Voice). In 2017, his group Kissing Electric released their debut EP entitled “KE_EP”. In May 2018, Trevor received his Masters in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University.

Join us for Drawing in the Galleries during each Friday Jazz from 6 to 9 p.m.

Drop in and sketch live, clothed models in our galleries. We welcome all ranges of drawing experience, including guests who are picking up a sketchbook for the first time! Learn more about Drawing in the Galleries.
