Gain an intimate perspective on the High Museum’s acclaimed collection of historical and contemporary photographs and see photographic treasures not on public display! This course uses photographs from the High’s permanent collection and the current exhibition A Fire That No Water Could Put Out”: Civil Rights Photography to provide insights into important ideas and movements in photography.

Laura Noel, an Atlanta-based photographer and installation artist, is a 2015–2016 Walthall Fellow and 2015 recipient of an Idea Capital Grant. Her work is in the collections of the High Museum of Art, the Ogden Museum in New Orleans, and the Gregg Museum of Art and Design at North Carolina State, and her prints and artist books have been featured in exhibitions in China, Germany, New York, Rhode Island, Cleveland, Philadelphia, and elsewhere. Her photographs have been published online and in print.
